Of course if you’re a hipster and into all the cool music you don’t really dig Bruce Springsteen, at least that’s what I gather. But this song–underrated by Bruce fans and unnoticed by non-fans–is a solid rock song.

And the only thing you can really say against him is that he’s from New Jersey.

I asked a friend of mine who was more aware during the 80′s (I wasn’t on drugs, just a very small child) if songs like this are serious–as in were the songwriters serious when coming up with this song–he said no, nobody was serious in the 80′s.

Sounds like a great time to me.

Not a big Bon Jovi fan but heard an interesting story about his 1989 record, “New Jersey.”

Apparently the Russians put a moratorium on rubles leaving the country so rather than paying the band in money they paid them in firewood instead.

Gotta love the Ruskies.

All Things Irish (Well, not all–just two things to be specific)

Dolores O’Riordan just released (Aug. 25) a new album called No Baggage. You can download a free mp3 of her song “You Set Me On Fire” from Amazon.Com.

Not having listened to her first album I do not know how they compare but her voice sounds great. My favorite song thus far is “It’s You” off the album. The song is a nostalgic tribute to her dad who fell sick last year, it’s sweet and endearing but has a good beat as well.

Also, in case you haven’t heard yet, she is reuniting with her fellow Cranberries members for a North American/European tour this Fall and next Winter. She’ll be singing old songs as well as the new songs off of this album.

Moving on to the second Irish artist. Her name is Lisa Hannigan, she used to sing for Damien Rice, and has now gone solo. Her album is “Sea Sew” released in Dublin last September.
